Arthur's Valentine's Arthur's Valentine's, by Marc Brown, tells a story about Arthur trying to find his secret admirer. Arthur keeps getting love notes because it is close to Valentine's Day. Arthur tries to think about all the people he knows from his class that may have written the love notes. He hopes it is the new girl Sue Ellen. He wrote love notes to Sue Ellen. On Valentines’s Day at the class party, Sue Ellen reads his love note and says “Ick.” Arthur was embarrassed and wanted to be alone. He went to his tree house and found another note that said there was another note for him at his house. He finds another card that has a movie ticket in it. Katherine Jones Katherine Jones, by Thea Feldman, tells about how brilliant Katherine was and what she liked to do. Katherine wasn't in school because she wasn't old enough. She walked with her brother to his school and asked him if she could go in. When she started school she got bumped up in grades and when she was ten when she was in high school. In College, she liked math and French, and she got a degree in math. After college, Katherine worked at the NACA also known as NASA. When she got older she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Katherine Jones was an African American woman who wanted to go to college but it was hard because there were not many colleges for African American women at that time.
