     Katherine Johnson Katherine Johnson, by Thea Feldman, tells about how brilliant Katherine was and what she liked to do. Katherine wasn't in school because she wasn't old enough.  She walked with her brother to his school and asked him if she could go in.  When she started school she got bumped up in grades and when she was ten she was in high school.  In college, she liked math and French, and she got a degree in math. After college, Katherine worked at the NACA also known as NASA.  When she got older she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Katherine Johnson was an African American woman who wanted to go to college, but it was hard because there were not many colleges for African American women at that time.  She was intelligent and worked hard toward her goal of learning as much as she could.  She did go to college and eventually helped put the first man on the moon.  This book is perfect for 5th graders because it is inter...
